I just finished reading the last words of this novel and I am very moved. I do not know how to tell you, I do not know how you recreate the emotions, the beauty of the text, the beauty of feelings, the characters I loved the nostalgia that came over me ... I think we can speak of a crush there?! Anyway, long time ago that I have not read such a book (though I have good reading these days!)
I am committed to Kath. I imagined her as a friend who told me his life. You feel so ... involved in this novel is impressive. I love it. The calmer the world, Kath tells you his childhood at Hailsham and friends Ruth and Tommy. And you're right there, so good with her. She has a story you and to help you understand, wanders into other memories, without you be yourself lost, no, you are good, relaxed ...
And you feel ... you feel a special atmosphere ... children of Hailsham are not like the others, they spend it, but you only have childhood memories of Kath, and even child she knew little. You suspect ... without detail. But it does not really matter. You know Kath will come when it deems appropriate time, it will explain everything and yet you just enjoy this beautiful story of friendship between Kath, Ruth and Tommy ... They lose sight of as adults and find themselves a few years later, but lost time and just now ... their time is running out.
I do not tell you more about the story itself is useless. It is better to discover over the words. Kazuo Ishiguro is a master of writing subtle and delicate, light, just touched ... a very nice time reading. I would not hesitate one second to read his other novels.
