In 1942, Czechoslovakia, Milada is 10 and lives with his family. For now the war has spared. But one night the Nazi soldiers and take them all together in a school with other people of the city. Men will run away. Women will be sent to concentration camps. Only a few girls will be spared because they correspond to the ideal Aryan by Hitler: blonde, blue eyes, the nose end ...
They will be sent to the centers to become perfect Aryan Germans. Milada is named Eva. She has no right to speak Czech, and must now learn German and hello to the Führer. After 2 years of instruction, it will be adopted by a German family. Far from being beaten, starved or treated badly, suffering from Milada / Eva is elsewhere. Despite his efforts, she sometimes forgets his history, his family, his own name and his mother tongue.
I am pleased to read this book because I did not know this practice of the Nazi regime, removal of children meeting their criteria of selection for education in Aryans and put them in foster families. On the writing itself is a book for 9-12 years then, I confess ... I felt a little too much! But please do know if you know any children of that age.
