Abstract:

In the saloon noisy and smoky full of gold seekers, the gray-haired man raised his voice:
- I have something important to ask you ...
The young sailor opened his very great ears.
- Are you able to find something in Paris? asked Garancher, febrile, putting her hand on his arm. And someone?
- What you want, "said Martial Belleroche confidently. And who you want.
- So I'm counting on you. But above all, above ... you must be wary, "said Garancher a deep voice and lugubrious without explaining more.
He then raised his glass and the two men drank.
Paris, April 1852
Fifi-End-Of Twine smiled and bowed to the public. All the spectators felt their hearts melt. All except one. The piano and violin played a prelude of great dramatic intensity. Fifi bowed gracefully taking her dress with both hands. Some applause broke out again, quickly snubbed by "hush" impatient. Fifi and sang the lament of the girl who wore unhappiness ...
My rating:
Firstly I would like to thank the New editions Babelio angle and for this great partnership.
- I was not expecting that at all! I'm totally won over by this novel! So much to say and yet so little if you do not want to spoil the reading ...
Rose-Aimée is a young woman who sings and dances for a living. It is bad luck to any man who tries to hurt him. Martial is a young man who returns from California Marine, the country of the gold rush. These two young people will meet and there is sequenced history and adventures our two heroes who will get to know and to be tame. All this against a backdrop of the 1850s with an accuracy depends quite disconcerting.
must first acknowledge the work of the author, all research has been done on time, everything is so detailed, so woven into the story is fabulous, I actually made a trip back in time, I got to, I was in the street, I smelled the smells, saw the buildings. It's stunning realism! Note that if one has not had its "historic", simply go to the last pages of the novel, which are devoted to various explanations about the time. Absolutely delicious.
Then we must once again commend the author for the very fascinating story of Rose-Aimée and Martial, terribly touching involved. It really takes to heart! It's a beautiful story ...
By cons, where I did not greet any of the author is the end! Shame to let the player like that on this full of doubts and questions! We want more and faster than that!
- I loved characters too. Rose-Aimee, who at first surly, protects against everything and everyone, hiding behind his shell to avoid being hurt will gradually open up and flourish, I loved to follow his evolution. I fell under the spell of Martial, how not to fall in love with a young man like that, willful, determined, friendly, attentive, gentle, patient, understanding ... Anyway ... One can only love him. There are also other characters who are very well described as a cigarette or even Jousselin Warbler, all these characters who come and go in the novel and find their natural place.
- The author's style is really great, everything is very good tone, the dialogue is in total harmony with the times, the vocabulary is really wanted and, if a word escaped you, no need to pick up the dictionary, the footnotes page are provided.
In conclusion, I love it and I can not wait to start the Volume 2!
