The Declaration - Genna Malley

roudoudou Name of the year 2011 starts on a flying! During my Christmas vacation, I had the opportunity to stroll in Paris and fall on the American Bookstore! The choice was somewhat limited but this was an opportunity to unearth this little novel that seem to nothing, you stun the first few pages!

In a near future world, humans have found an antidote that offers eternal life! More disease, more suffering, you can live (and work incidental since the more you're healthy!) For eternity! But this discovery poses a problem of rapid population growth! If there are more deaths than births but continue, the reserves of the planet will soon be exhausted. Whatever ! Those who decide to take the pill for ever sign the declaration which commits them not to have children ... "A life for a life"

But some find the system absurdent. Movements attempting to organize and some couples have children they illegally concealed the rest of the world. But these children are surplus and when they are discovered, they are sent to centers, separated from their parents (who are imprisoned) and treated as extra mouths that do not deserve their place on Earth. They are then trained to make this useful: cooking, cleaning and other menial tasks, they are prepared to become slaves of legal. Only death can free them because, of course, they are not allowed to take the antidote.

Anna is part of the surplus and is locked at Grange Hall since she was 2 years. She was "educated" by Mrs. Paercent, director of the institution. She has integrated the fact that it is nothing, that his parents are irresponsible and that she hates them and does everything it can to be the best possible surplus, to be useful.

In this environment, Peter, a surplus of his age, has to Grange Hall. It is an event because no surplus of this age has been integrated. Indeed, at that age, do not fit the integrated and cause problems. Peter is no exception to the rule. He refused to official statements, he rebels against the theories of Legal and above all it tries to open the eyes of Anna.

We have a very well developed young adult novel! An important theme, very well treated. I felt oppressed from the first pages and I particularly anxious at every step! What would happen? The twists are linked together in unpredictable ways, Hallett is taking, exciting! Disclosures will be made until the last pages! You'll be riveted by the twists. Genna Malley has put together a small world perfectly horrible and inhumane!

For those who read English, no worries for understanding! It's fluid, no problem.
For others, it was released in VF as the Declaration (egg thickens!)

I would read Volume 2: The Resistance (La Resistance) and Volume 3 seems approaching output VO!

"I'm sorry, House Matron. I succumbed to Temptation. It Will not Happen Again. Do I Know My Place. I Have No Place. I'm nothing ... "

" That your selfish, criminal parents Thought nothing of the Planet and of Their Fellow Countrymen Produced and you ... you vermin to feed On Our food, drink water and use o o energy. "

This was read as part of the challenge Read VO Bladelor! 2 / 12
