My opinion:
- It following several positive reviews I decided to read this novel, although it is the second volume of a saga can be read quite independently of the first.
admit it took me a little over 150 pages to really get into the story. But once the story starts, I have managed to detach myself. It really is a special world where reality blends with fantasy. You meet extraordinary creatures, characters, disturbing and challenging, the plot is thrilling and suspense keeps us in suspense until the end.
Kristin Cashore takes us here in the universe plots, battles, takeover, tactics to overthrow the king, or rather keep the throne but also friendship and love. The novel focuses primarily on Red, we follow throughout his adventures and learn to know and the people it has to be discovered. What could be wrong with the book is just that perhaps too much focus on Red at the expense of such explanations on the monsters or the realm in which she lives and must, moreover, to save .
- That aside, it is very gratifying to know Red we gradually reveals his past, his childhood far from ordinary and that continues to haunt her. Red is an awesome beauty, it fascinates everyone and it is with great regret. One feels at once the sympathy for this young woman and you care about his fate quickly. I loved the character Brigan, a man with impeccable sense of duty with a certain fragility, even if he tries to hide it. For cons, the character of Archer, mad love for Red irritated me deeply.
- The author's style is very readable and fluid, the descriptions are very talking and allow the imagination to picture the characters, even places without problem. A very enjoyable read in short.
