Go, hop, hop, hop, warming up, you blow well, it hydrates, of course, and here we go!
All and all on the starting line of a new part of "Random from a book! Go!
First, let us all last week! I saw myself being harassed, threatened cremation on a pyre by different participants (I will not cite ^^)...
But I held firm and did not give any clues!
Finally, it is therefore azilys who found the right answer, and without any clue, please!! Miss azilys so falls within the closed circle of winners, with Cedric, Siana, Angie and Miss Dotted! (A small review should be done in 3 weeks ... For the 10th of "Random from a Book!" Everyone still has a chance!)
azilys A big Bravo!
Succubus Blues is the first book in the series Urban Fantasy Richelle Mead (author, also, series "Vampire Academy" and "Black Swan.").
The narrator of this book is Georgina Kincaid, a succubus bookstore (yes, it's possible!) Whose lives sometimes weighs on his shoulders ... A heroine who seems perfect, physically (yes, it helps to choose its appearance, and only have to snap their fingers to get a peach and a tan in winter ... Pfff. ..), but is far from satisfied with his condition (a bit difficult this Georgina still ^^)...
short, the first volume of which the pace is supported and whose heroine is endearing. Add to that a far from awful writing, as is sometimes the case in urban fantasy, and you have a must-read!
Now to extract the day!
"I stared. His eyes expressed only anxiety. His generosity was unlimited. I had never earned so little that he loves me. Only his last sentence had betrayed his suffering. Again I swore on the spot to stop hurting him. That is my mission now. I was so upset that I did not even dream of prying complications he had raised. "
That the proposals are open! And if there are no right answers Thursday night, I would put an index online!
And thank you to everyone to experience this game ^ ^ xx
Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson Volume 1: Call of the Moon. That a while now that some people (who will recognize themselves!) Harassed me so that I discovered this "famous" Mercedes. For my part, I was not very motivated by this story about these animals that are very hairy werewolves!
And finally ...
Volume 1: Calling the Moon.
"" Werewolves can be dangerous if you get in their way. They have an extraordinary talent to conceal their true nature to human eyes. But I'm not quite human. "Indeed, Mercy Thompson is a daughter of the most mundane. Mechanic in Montana is a tough cookie who does not hesitate to get their hands dirty and take out the claws when danger strikes his door. But that's not all: his sexy neighbor is the pack leader of a gang of werewolves, the minibus she tinkers at this time belongs to a vampire, and very dignified old lady who visited him just cast spells on his garage. At the heart of this world creatures of the night, Mercy is mixed with a delicate case of murder and kidnapping ...

(Milady Edition)
I d
ois admit that this summary does not please me ... And these few words, I had made the image of a Mercy "tomboy" almost vulgar, spitting on the ground the remains of tobacco fell from his butt ... (sorry, it is the image that comes immediately when I think "common woman"!) short, in the end, yes Mercy is passionate about mechanical (from Volswagen, more precisely!), but did not mean an empty head. (Miss has also studied history, before understanding that they do not help to pay his rent ... As I sympathize, Mercy!)
Far from being a woman vulgar as I thought, Mercedes is not a "pussy" as often encountered in urban fantasy ...
No Mercy, it is a coyote .... (Is not he, my pun ... puss / coyote !!... Well, well, I go out ... Actually no, I will try to finish this post before! )
I was saying: Mercy a coyote, a "Changeux" to be more accurate. (She holds a power of Indian ancestry seems to me there ...), and perhaps the last of its kind ...
short, Mercedes Thompson is a unique woman in every respect: Changeux coyote on a territory governed by moults vampires and werewolves; woman mechanic in a world where it is men, most often engaged in this profession ; woman who likes to be pretty, but that does not mind wearing blue work clothes or stained ... (I loved it bears the same T-shirt stained with chocolate for over a hundred pages!)
So how does not like Mercy Tompson?
And how can we not find the "closer" to us than most of the heroines of the genre (heu. .. For his part "human", well ... obviously I understand that you either complicated you identify a coyote! Although ... pfff .... yes, I promise, I will end this post and I'm going to bed ^ ^).
short, I turned the pages of this first volume with pleasure, learning to know our quietly Mercy and other people "special" of Sorts-Cities, and more particularly, the clan of werewolves corner ...
The main plot of this novel lies elsewhere around the pack, which we learn to know the laws and codes ... And then: "Hats" Ms. Briggs, really, for giving us much detail about the workings of the pack, the powers of the Alpha etc ... The author gives us, through the knowledge of his main character (which she grew up among these hairy beasts), a veritable handbook of behavior to adopt towards these creatures ... Manual that I found really complete ....
...
side plot, this is the first volume road and keeps us guessing until the end. It also seemed to me to be led like a detective story. (Small details we eyed jumping to a conclusion.)
The pace is sustained throughout history, and the book is not long enough to be bored. (Less than 400 pages: a real rest after the fifth volume of Rachel Morgan ... 800 pages (which I loved, having said that!)).
By cons, no real sentimental story in this first volume, but some tracks are launched, and we doubt, then, that they will be exploited in the following volumes. (Having read the second, I confirm ^ ^)
...
short, the first volume in lieu of this presentation with heroin so special and first steps into the world of Patricia Briggs. A good time reconciled me with the werewolves, which I found the stories so far, poorly managed ...
My Note to the Call of the Moon: 3.5 / 5
Zoom, this post will be part of my "critical" challenge for V & S ABFA!
